Digg is dead. The whole digg ads kerfuffle is tantamount to haggling over the funeral decorations or the wording on the tombstone.

The takeaway from this article: the only two factors that did anything to increase clickthrough were 1) deceiving naive digg users into thinking the ad was a digg story submission, and 2) blocking the screen with obnoxious, animated slider ads. The only reason for that increase is obvious: accidental clicks from failed attempts to get the freaking ad off the screen.

Great article. I use digg to promote my website as well as sell electronic cigarettes. This article nails a significant amount of leverage in how to make it work quickly.

Ever since the DIGG "V4" update last year, the site has become completely useless... even Kevin Rose jumped ship. Front page articles used to have thousands of thought-provoking comments, now they have 10-25 which reak of fakeness

Sad really... I basically switched over to reddit.com and am very happy with that. Back when this article was written, DIGG was the bomb... funny how fast things can change online

They make money like all other websites, converting traffic into money. How this is done varies but you have traffic, you have money. Adds and traffic information makes them their money.
