Thank you for helping me get rid of the Flash 9 package (finally). YouTube videos still didn’t work, so I followed your suggestion of uninstalling firefox-3.0 and reinstalling it, which incidentally got rid of the old “firefox” package and its cronies as well. But still no YouTube…

On a hunch, I disabled Flashblock, and suddenly YouTube loaded right up. I don’t know what happened with the latest version of the Flashblock plugin (1.3.10a), but if someone has done all this and is still having trouble, disabling Flashblock may help.

Oooo-migod! This saved me. I have been trying other solutions to my Flash issue for weeks. Instantly after doing your solution – BA DA BING: I had Flash player. THANK YOU!! I can watch Lost Untangled again, and use Webnotes!

It is very important that you clean all other possible installations of flash/swf players as shown in the article. And only after you do that, install a new/fresh adobe flash player.

If you’re still unable to do that, I would recommend uninstalling “firefox-3.0″ package and installing it again before installing an adobe flash player. This usually cleans up all the firefox dependencies (e.g. xulrunner and others) that might have broken links to the flash plugin.

Let me know if you have any questions as you do that,

A dialog box came up for updating my Adobe Flash Player. I clicked yes and I’ve been having problems since then. I can no longer view You tube videos and can’t hear sound on some web sites.Thanks…and find a lot off information about it
